The second Steering Committee Meeting for the University-Industry Partnership Programme (UIPP) was successfully conducted on June 14, 2024, at GAP HQ, Colombo 07. The meeting, coordinated by Ms. Nipunika Subasinghe, Industrial Placement Officer of the Faculty of Agriculture, brought together key academic and industry representatives to strengthen collaboration between the University of Ruhuna and industry partners.
Chaired by Snr. Prof. S.D. Wanniarachchi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Mr. Gamunu Jayasundara, Senior Business Manager at Prima–Ceylon Grain Elevators, the meeting covered significant topics such as enhancing university-industry collaboration, improving graduate employment opportunities, and expanding joint research initiatives. Participants also discussed funding opportunities, curriculum enhancements, and strategies for monitoring and evaluating partnership outcomes.
The session concluded with an open discussion, emphasizing action plans for future initiatives. The Faculty of Agriculture expresses its gratitude to all committee members and industry partners for their valuable contributions to fostering stronger academia-industry ties.
